About Founded 2013 2021-2022 Co-Presidents Elia Nissan & Mariana Ninkovic

Junior Council is a committee under the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS), composed of approximately twenty first year engineering students, with two second year co-presidents. At the beginning of the fall semester, all incoming first years are encouraged to apply for any VP positions, departmental representatives, or external council representatives. The council’s goal is to welcome all first year engineering students by organizing both academic and social events throughout the school year, and to create a strong network of first year students. :)

Main Events

Back To School Apartment Crawl

This apartment crawl is hosted on the first weekend after school starts in September, and allows new engineering students to get to know each other and encourage them to apply to JC, all while having a super fun time!

Presenting Junior Council 2021-2022 (aka the best JC that has ever lived!)

Ice Cream Social

Free Frostbite ice cream is given out in the Engineering Common Room to introduce first year students to the members of JC and get to know what JC does! This is a social you do not want to miss.

Therapy Dogs

At the end of each semester, JC hosts a chill event where we have tea, snacks, and most importantly, therapy dogs! This event is meant to help students destress before exams start and is always a wholesome time.

Networking Conference

First year students often have a tough time learning to network and start pursuing a career. That's why every year, JC hosts a networking conference with talks from alumni, industry professionals, and experts from the Engineering Career Centre.

Power Hour

Power Hour is an event that consists of participants drinking a shot of their drink every minute for one hour. It's an iconic JC event that you don't want to miss, with a super-fun theme every semester! All engineers and friendgineers are welcome!

Other Events

In the past, Junior Council has hosted a wide variety of events including first year banquet, Bob Ross paint night, beverage pong tournaments, pumpkin carving and our iconic cactus sale.

Junior Council is a family of first years, who work together, bond and are given the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the EUS! It's a great stepping stone to getting involved in future years, and a great way to meet other engineers from all years & departments! So what are you waiting for... APPLY!!

Application Process

Online applications for JC 2021-2022 will be released August 9th, 2021 through Google forms! The form will shared on this wiki page as well as on all our social media platforms so follow us and keep an eye out! The best applications will be selected for interviews by the two co-presidents. After this process, twenty first-years are selected to fill the positions available on the council.
