Letter from the VP External

As VP External of the EUS, I help connect you with industries, opportunities and amazing people to enhance your undergrad. My mandate involves representing you (EUS members) on a national level to professional and student organisations like the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec), the CFES (Canadian Federation of Engineering Students) and CREIQ (Conférération pour le rayonnement étudiant en ingénierie au Québec). These student federations, which regroup all engineering students throughout Quebec and Canada, serve as a platforms for discussions and help us improve on making the engineering profession more relevant to our students.

I also oversee delegation to CREIQ and CFES events throughout the year to connect with other engineering students from across the country. Keep an eye out for in house engineering competitions (MEC), Quebec scale competitions (QEC & EngGames) and national competitions (CEC) to put your skills to the test and meet incredible people. My portfolio also includes finding conference opportunities to inspire and educate students within the EUS community, such as the EUS Conference and the CFES Conference on Diversity in Engineering.

My door is always open so feel free to drop by the EUS Office to chat about what you have in store for the EUS and how we can make your time at McGill even more unforgettable.

Duties

Article 12 of the EUS Constitution outlines the duties of the VP External

12.1 The Vice-President External shall:

1. in conjunction with the President, represent the E.U.S. to outside bodies and individuals;
2. have responsibility for matters relating to the interaction of the E.U.S. with outside groups;
3. be responsible for maintaining links with student organizations at the provincial, federal, and international levels and with other engineering student societies of other universities;
4. be responsible for relations with industry, with government, and all other external relations of the E.U.S. outside the University;
5. be responsible for assuring the representation of the E.U.S. at Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (C.F.E.S.) meetings and at Quebec Confederation of Engineering Student Outreach (Q.C.E.S.O.) meetings; and
6. serve as the official spokesperson of the E.U.S. in the absence of the President.
