Orientation-week or O-week or more generally Frosh is an event for entering students filled with enjoyable activities, networking sessions to meet new students and Dank Memes.

What is Frosh?

Frosh (aka Orientation Week) is typically a 4 day long event filled with activities, parties, concerts, food and new friends! It is your introduction to Montreal, McGill and your new faculty which makes it an integral part of your first year of university. We know it can be intimidating at first, starting this big new chapter of your life, so we in the frosh community (coordinators, leaders and staff) are here to give you a warm welcome and ensure that you kick off your undergrad life in the best way possible

Frosh Events

At the beginning of September, day and night you’ll be busy making amazing memories as a result of the busy schedule of orientation week. Here’s a short recap of the types of events:

Day Events - Includes a park party, the Engineering Hard Hat Challenge, of course great times at OAP (Open Air Pub - McGill’s famous Engineering-run barbeque, music and BEvERage heaven) and much more!

Night Events - The coolest parties featuring amazing music music and amazing people, including our traditional Toga Party

Beach Day - A day long event that makes life long memories #beachdayeveryday

Pub Crawl - What other great way to get to know your new home? Nuff said For more info on the scheduling of our events, check out our schedule!

What Roles Exist on the Committee

Communications - In change of social media, branding, videos, etc

Day Events - Organizes Park Party, Hard Hat Challenge, Sunday event, Food Crawl

Night Events - Plans large-scale events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights

Sponsorship - Brings in that $$$. Typically hired before other coordinators

Pub Crawl - In charge of organizing all things crawl, including signing bars and planning the route

Sustainability - Assures safe and accessible frosh for all

Leaders and Staff - Coordinates leader and staff interviews, forms groups and makes staff schedules, organizes socials throughout the Summer

Merch - Designs and orders all the merchandish for everyone doing frosh - froshies, leaders, staff and coords

IFC (Interfaculty committee) - Works with other faculties to organize Beach Day and transportation, as well as all-faculty concert night on Thursday night

Chiefs (2) - Usually coords from previous years. Don't really do much, to be honest. (This is a joke. They select the coords along with the internal, plan retreat, set up registration and keep everyone in line)

What to Look Forward to in a typical Frosh (Frosh 2019 Events)

Scunt - This year's scunt (Aka scavenger hunt) will be taking place all throughout Frosh. Take it seriously - it will count for points

Bonus Points - Special theme-related bonus points will be given out throughout Frosh and tallied up on Sunday to hald your team gain points

Thursday August 29th

Aptitude Test - This exam won't count for your GPA but it will affect the rest of your McGill career. Don't sweat it if you miss it, arrangements will be made for you.

Hard Hat Challenge - Throughout your engineering degree there will be many hoops to jump through and hurdles to overcome. Any engineer can tell you that working together as a team is way to succeed! HHC is not only an obstacle course, but a right of passage that groups must complete in unison to kickoff their frosh experience

MERTW Group Photo - Engineers unite to spell out the infamous acronym “MERTW” in a group photo! McGill Engineers Rule the World!

Food Crawl - Your leaders will take you on a short crawl to try delicious free food from some of our favourite restaurants to go grab a quick bite between classes

All-Faculty Concert - The first day of Frosh wraps up with the biggest concert night of the year, not to be missed! Expect big names, big venues and busloads of new friends

Friday August 30th

Park Party - This wicked-fun outdoor carnival with other faculties features giant inflatable games, Alouette cheerleaders, an abundance of free food, puppies, volleyball and other sports, a high-stakes design competition and many many more activities!

Pub Crawl - Kick off from Park Party and explore a sampling of Montreal’s finest pubs, restaurants, and bars! Along the way, enjoy free food and drinks, compete in challenges at each stop, and be on the lookout for opportunities to collect some androids! Every group leaves at a different time, so ask your leaders for more information!

Forum Night- Pub crawl will lead you straight to the famous Montreal Forum for a fun-filled night of arcade games, pool, air hockey, a wicked-good DJ, bowling and much more.

Saturday August 31st

Beach Day - You’ve been chanting about it all week, now it’s finally the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Get ready to hop on a bus with your leaders and friends and head to Beach Club for the one and only Frosh Beach Day! With a jam packed day full of dancing, tanning and even swimming if you want, you’ll leave wishing Beach Day was truly Everyday! However, with all that fun in the sun though comes the potential for some nasty sunburns, so don’t forget your sunscreen, and make sure to stay hydrated for maximal Beach Day Fun! Last bus will be leaving at 1pm sharp, so make sure to get to the Jeanne Mance parc on time!

Choo Choo Challenge Night- Recover from the sun with food, friends, fun challenges that will earn points for your group and good times!

Sunday September 1st

OAP Breakfast - Ohhhh, Brekky get in my belly! Get your butt out of bed and down to the best place on earth - Open Air Pub! Grab some tasty breakfast cooked over OAP's coal-powered BBQs

Funday Sunday - Your last chance to earn points for your team! Bring your competitive spirit, because we have a jam-packed schedule of individual and group challenges, as well as the famous Eng Games performance. Grab some free pizza and join in the fun! Awards and winners will be announced at the very end, and special prizes will be handed out!
