The VP Finance is responsible for overseeing the finances of the EUS core operations. This ranges from managing the $1M+ EUS budget, four funds, corporate relations and sponsorship, as well as fiscal responsibility for the commercial services. The role also directly oversees Open Air Pub, the Best Place on Earth. The VP Finance has a fiscal responsibility to ensure that the EUS maintains a strong financial safety net, and a social responsibility to ensure that the monies collected through various revenue sources are returned in services and events to benefit the entire student body. A person in this role should be an objective, unbiased thinker, good at critically analyzing the cost-to-benefit ratio of budget allocations and sponsorship, with high importance on reliable decision making and execution.

As Vice-President Finance, VP Finance for short, my primary role is to support the underlining EUS Groups with anything related to finances. This involves every step of processing payments, corporate relations and non-academic funds.<br><br>There are three directors under my portfolio: Finance Director, Corporate Relations Director and Funds Director. Those positions started around 2015 and are now established members of the EUS.

The EUS VP Finance must have a good understanding of the financial structure of the EUS prior to taking on the position. There are several ways to accomplish this, besides FACC 300 of course. One of the best ways to do this is becoming the VP Finance for an EUS club, committee, department, or other group. Oftentimes these positions will have little prerequisites other than a passion and ambition for finances. It will help you gain budgeting skills and also understand the procedures and structure of the EUS.

Two other underrated financial roles related to the EUS are the positions of [[Finance Director]] and the [[Funds Director]]. The Finance Director in particular is a fantastic position if you are interested in later becoming the EUS VP Finance. The Finance Director gets extremely comfortable with the budgeting structure and the operational budget of the EUS. The Funds Director gains a specified understanding of the numerous EUS funds which is also extremely helpful for the general understanding of EUS Finances.
In the past few years, the position grew exponentially along with the expansion of the EUS. The addition of Clubs and Design Teams in 2011, and the numerous successful years since the start of the decade, have created a large demand of request from the different EUS Groups.

The EUS VP Finance is responsible for overseeing the finances of the EUS core operations. This ranges from managing the $1M+ EUS budget, four funds, corporate relations and sponsorship, as well as fiscal responsibility for the commercial services. The role also directly oversees Open Air Pub, the Best Place on Earth. Duties

According to Title II of the Constitution
The Vice-President Finance shall:

  1. Keep proper financial accounts and records in accordance with the Financial Bylaws of the EUS;
  2. Prepare the annual budget of the EUS in conjunction with the Executive Committee and submit it to the Board of Governors before October 15th;
  3. Manage the funds of the EUS in conjunction with the Executive Committee;
  4. Prepare a year-end financial report by May 15th and obtain and update the previous year’s financial report;
  5. Coordinate relationships with sponsors to support the finances of the EUS.
