Calling all engineers passionate about design and non-profit work!
Volunteers are needed to help design prototypes for windmills that will be built using affordable, everyday materials in Panama (February 2020). Commitment from now until December 2019 includes weekly/biweekly meetings with project leader and fellow engineers to plan the design for a prototype. January 2020 will involve weekly meetings to build the prototype, in preparation for building to be done on site in February 2020. Unfortunately, volunteers will not be going to Panama, but your work will be appreciated by many!
Your work will provide a remotely located community in Panama with an alternative energy source that is in high demand, and a design that can be used by other communities with the same needs.
If interested, please contact Brenda Thompson at brenda.thompson@mail.mcgill.ca with a statement of interest (around 250 words) which explains why you'd like to take part in the project, and a resumé with relevant experience (this can include projects done in class, classes taken, etc).
