TechWeek
McGill TechWeek is a EUS committee responsible for hosting the eponymous annual TechWeek (usually at the end of January), which is a showcase of engineering innovations, industry trends and career paths. Typical events that are held include professional development workshops, techtalks, panels, networking sessions and industry tours.
As the next Chair of TechWeek, you will be in charge of the entire committee from recruitment to exit report. You will be given the freedom and resources to make YOUR VISION of a "week-long celebration of engineering profession" become a reality. You will be under the portfolio of the next EUS VP Academics, but you will have de facto autonomy in steering the committee the direction you want to go.
The responsibilities of the Chair of TechWeek include and are not limited to:
- Represent the committee and be its spokesperson
- Meet with the EUS VP Academic on a regular basis to help you develop ideas and obtain resources
- Recruit members for the TechWeek 2022 Committee
- Host weekly meetings and manage the team
- Manage the TechWeek budget
- Oversee event planning and make key decisions
- Oversee communications, event publicity, event logistics, social media, website, and any other responsibilities of the team members
- Document the work done over the year and assist the next transition of leadership
We are looking for people who:
- Have a vision for TechWeek 2022
- Have strong initiative and drive
- Have excellent communication skills
- Preferably (but not necessarily) have prior experiences in a leadership role
- Preferably (but not necessarily) have experiences in other EUS groups
- Willing to commit at minimum 3-5 hours a week, and much more closer to the TechWeek date
