Usage

Meta template to produce a user signature when substituted:

{{subst:4~}}

Produces the same result constructs like ~~<noinclude></noinclude>~~ would, but can lead to clearer template code.

In an untranscluded template it is often desirable to indicate the place where the user signature will appear with four tildes (~~~~). To achieve that, use multilevel substitution instead (meta:Help:Safesubst):

{{ {{{|safesubst:}}}4~}}

Note: If a redirect template is used, then it, too, must be substituted in order for it to reproduce an actual signature.
